The Challenge

Due to a major business opportunity, a client needed to hire over 100 drivers and distribution personnel immediately. However, the organization lacked a systematic selection process capable of handling large volumes of new hires within the required time frame. Without a major change, the company stood to lose the new business.

The Process

We developed an efficient course of action that included:

  • Completing an extensive job-analysis process
  • Creating formal job descriptions
  • Conducting an Area Wage and Salary
  • Survey to determine competitive pay scales
  • Developing a recruitment campaign that combined print advertising, job fairs, job service and employee referrals
  • Training supervisors in effective and legal interviewing techniques
  • Drafting an integrated screening/selection model
  • Implementing a pre-employment screening process, which included drug testing, motor vehicle record, credit check, criminal background, employment verification and reference checks
  • Developing and conducting a New Hire Orientation program

The Result

Our client hired the necessary new drivers and distribution personnel a week ahead of schedule and secured the new business. Not only did the Company hire enough employees, it hired the right employees. In addition, the organization now had an efficient and systematic recruitment and hiring process with which to meet future business challenges.
