Risk Management Update
Two New Extensis Services Help Employers Reduce Risk And Meet Regulatory Requirements
Defensive Driving Course Offering
If your company employs drivers of any sort—truck drivers, limousine drivers, sales personnel, delivery persons, service representatives, or even telecommuting employees—youíre open to the risk of legal action for damages to property and people in the case of an accident.
Unfortunately, even good drivers have accidents—and drivers with poor road habits are a real danger to themselves, to others, and to their employers.

To help you control your exposure to the risks associated with employees driving, and to assist employees in improving their road skills, Extensis is offering an on-site defensive driver training course for worksite managers and supervisors.
Smith Driving System®
Extensis trainers will instruct your worksite management and supervisory personnel in the Smith Driving System®, one of the most recognized defensive driving programs in the United States. In the Smith system, the actual training is done behind the wheel and on the road, not just in the classroom.
Once trained, your managers and supervisors will be able to conduct the training course themselves with worksite employees. They will be able to recognize and evaluate worksite employees as they drive to ensure that they are integrating the defensive driving techniques learned in the classroom.
Extensis will provide all necessary training materials with the exception of a vehicle. We ask that you provide a vehicle large enough to allow all participants to ride together. We recommend a full-size SUV or van or something similar.
Training Sessions
Extensis has developed two different training sessions. Both are limited to four participants.
- One-day Training Course
Includes 3 hours of classroom instruction and 3-4 hours of on-the-road instruction. - Two-day Training Course
Includes 7 hours of classroom instruction and 8 hours of on-the-road instruction.

Workplace Safety Training Program
Many Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards require employers to train employees in workplace safety. To assist our clients in meeting these regulatory requirements, Extensis is implementing a Risk Management Safety Training Program for worksite employees.
Each month Extensis will provide clients with a training topic and appropriate training material to assist them with conducting and document a short and focused Safety Meeting.
Monthly topics will address areas where an effective training program will improve workplace safety and demonstrate compliance with OSHA standards. These topics are not intended to replace required industry-specific training, such as Hazard Communications, Respiratory Protection, Emergency Action Planning, Forklift, etc.
